When he is rescued by Ratchet, he accompanies him in searching for Qwark who faked his death, and convinces him to get back in the game. He played an important role in the plan to interrogate Courtney Gears for information on Nefarious, which leads to him getting kidnapped and replaced with an impostor, Klunk. After uniting with Qwark to stop the great threat, Clank would fight alongside with Ratchet to infiltrate Nefarious’s base and assault the tyhrranoid base.

The threat is thwarted when said device is used on a large scale.īy the events of the third game, Ratchet learns that his home planet is under attack by a new enemy, Dr. As Qwark reveals himself and his plan to frame the heroes, he is eaten after unintentionally further mutating a protopet, which Ratchet and Clank defeat, and Angela’s device reverses the mutation completely. The duo breaks into the Megacorp HQ to shut down the threat, with the help of Angela. After defeating Thugs-4-Less and learning the extent of the protopet’s danger, the latter is mass produced and their aggressive behavior wreaks havoc on the public, which Clank assists Ratchet in suppressing. Clank continues to assist Ratchet in trying to reason with a suspiciously-behaving “Fizzwidget”, along with fighting the military contractor group Thugs-4-Less. The thief is revealed to be Angela Cross, who was a former employee of Megacorp, and stole the experiment in the interest of public safety. Together, they successfully recover the experiment from the thief and retrieve it to “Fizzwidget”, who betrays the two seemingly on accident. Clank initially does not accompany Ratchet until he is kidnapped and tortured by the mastermind behind the theft, then saved by Ratchet. He is later revealed to be Captain Qwark impersonating the true Fizzwidget, and their task is to recover a stolen protopet experiment. In the second game, Ratchet and Clank are assigned a task by “Abercrombie Fizzwidget”, the CEO of Megacorp in the Bogon Galaxy. The two were hailed as heroes by the general public of the Solana Galaxy. Towards the end, Ratchet learned that Drek planned to destroy his home planet, which unified him with Clank stronger than ever, and the two successfully worked to put a stop to him for good. They would run into Qwark again, and once Ratchet had satisfied his revenge, would come around and agree to go after Drek. Clank remained his voice of reason in staying on track to stopping the bigger threat that was Drek. From here, Ratchet would resent Clank and pursue a selfish desire for vengeance on Qwark. Upon meeting Qwark and completing his obstacle course, the duo would get betrayed and left to die, but they fought their way out. Clank asks for Ratchet’s help in finding Captain Qwark, who Clank believed would be the answer to stopping Drek, which he agrees to. Here he would meet Ratchet for the first time, a lombax mechanic working to build a spaceship. He is quickly exposed to Drek’s plan to destroy many planets, and escapes the planet via spaceship, and crashes onto Planet Veldin.

The two form a heroic duo to protect multiple galaxies.Ĭlank is conceived at the start of the series in a robot factory on Planet Quartu, and is a defect among the rest of the robots manufactured for Chairman Drek’s army. The game follows the perspective of the titular characters, Ratchet, a lombax mechanic who lives on Planet Veldin, and the hero in question, who was born on Quartu and starts off by wanting to stop Chairman Drek. The first game was released in 2002, and has up to 13 titles to this date, with an upcoming title called Rift Apart, set to be released in June this year. Ratchet & Clank is a video game franchise created and developed by Insomniac Games, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.
